A.4   Communication Facilities

WindView Communication

Communication between the host and target portions of WindView is provided by the WDB protocol over a serial line or a network connection. This is the same path used by all the Tornado host tools to communicate with the target. For information on configuring this communication path, see the Tornado User's Guide: Setup and Startup.

Event Data Upload

Event data may be uploaded through the same communication path as is used by the Tornado tools or using the network and it can be uploaded after collection is complete or continuously during collection.

Upload Path

For configuration information, see Upload Path. For a detailed discussion of the upload path options, see 8.3 Data Upload to the Host.

  • Direct to Graph (default, through the target server using a preconfigured TSFS socket)
  • Through the target server to a TSFS file
  • Through the target server to the view graph using a TSFS socket
  • Over the network using a TCP/IP socket to the view graph or evtRecv
  • Over the network using NFS
